"...the reason why I've done it so... it's a piston pulling down a pillow, uh, rather than the, uh, the boy poking his face up, is because if you try and-a, push a pumpkin, uh, with a piston, it destroys the pumpkin. So instead of... waking up the child... it looked like as you come in, his head just falls off [laughs], and, uh, that's not what I want to happen so..." |
— Stampy explaining the reason for his method of revealing the child to a losing player in Take The Tooth. |
"Pumpkin Child" is the 245th episode of Stampy's Lovely World. In this episode, Stampy and L for Leeeee x begin building a stealth-based object collection mini-game dubbed "Take The Tooth".
Plot[]
The third round of Hose The Rose[]
Stampy opens the episode, turning around to re-enter his bedroom only to encounter L for Leeeee x directly behind him, to his surprise. He comments on the inconvenience of him deciding to do so and wonders why he doesn't emerge from the painting instead, requesting him to do so as he prefers tradition. The two of them reset to their initial position, and Stampy proceeds to repeat his introduction at a rapid pace. Upon completing his introductory phrase, he manages to introduce L for Leeeee x to the episode as he had intended with him emerging from the painting as he calls him out instead. Stampy asks him to, if he is in a good mood, kiss him as a joke. He is surprised that his response is to do just that, which also turns out to be a joke, and he tells him that the typical method of kissing is to simply nose rub. Stampy requests a cake from L for Leeeee x, of which he is then given as he proceeds to eat it almost entirely, though slowly, criticising how he is slow in eating cake compared to how he had used to do it.
Moving onto Hose The Rose, Stampy explains that players have to shoot an arrow at a button to trigger a set of events and repeat doing so multiple times over to water a rose via dispenser. L for Leeeeee x seemingly eager, Stampy decides to allow him the first attempt, him ending up missing. Stampy takes the next attempt and manages to shoot the button, allowing the first two buttons to be pressed down by the arrows. With the third button being opened, Stampy instructs L for Leeeee x to specifically shoot it, advising him not to shoot the minecart next to it, only for him to end up missing anyway, allowing Stampy the next attempt as he successfully shoots the button, triggering the next button to be open. L for Leeeee x attempts to shoot it for himself, only to miss, leading the round to be a failure. Despite the miss, he assures L for Leeeeee x that their attempt at the mini-game was the best of multiple, intending to complete it eventually.
Visiting the Love Garden, Stampy gives a shoutout to "Leo Harley" for a shed designed around Minecraft, featuring multiple objects representing blocks from the game along with a themed painting based on himself and iBallisticSquid, expressing envy over the shed that he had made. L for Leeeee x eats a porkchop over the sign, urging Stampy to obligate him to apologise for creating a mess of food on it. Moving onto the doghouse, he decides that he shall visit Stampy's Funland due to building a new mini-game, though he will also take a dog with him. He offers L for Leeeee x to make a choice, to which he responds with a request to take Corey with him.
Hide and Harriot & beginning to build a stealth-based object collection mini-game[]
Leaving the doghouse, Stampy decides to, before explaining the mini-game, he decides he should visit a new person that has joined his world, deciding that he should speak to Harriot. However, due to her being in a mysterious location, he decides on a hide & seek session in order to uncover her current location due to her roaming around the town area, considering possibly allowing her to move in with Harrison. Stampy searches the various locations such as the Pick-A-Pet Pet Shop, Crazy Cow Milk Bar, Flap Postal Service, the Pretty Kitty, and an especially thorough investigation of the Caring Cat Clinic due to being her origin point. He finds a cake instead and decides to eat it. Eventually, after searching the Beat The Heat Fire Station as well as the Playful Po Po Station, finding a collection of pigs in the latter, L for Leeeee x ventually alerts him to her location. He eventually discovers her in Stampy's Overwear monitoring the till as an employee. Seeing her traditional villager clothes, Stampy offers her to wear the Pumpkin Munchkin, to her denial, and affirms himself that she is settling into Stampy's Lovely World itself.
Having found Harriot, Stampy finally decides to visit Stampy's Funland to begin building the mini-game. On his way over, he explains that the Loose Tooth is the reason for the mini-game's existence, as he built it to give the Tooth Fairy the job of working in it, and due to her working in it constantly, she is too inattentive to collect teeth, deciding that there should be a mini-game based on her daily job of substituting the teeth of a slumbering child with money. The general idea for the mini-game invokes that there are three separate bedrooms with various pressure plates and tripwires. Players sneak across them to prevent them from triggering to wake up the child, requiring stealth, and upon reaching said child, the player then has to replace the tooth with money as intended, with the winner being determined by who has the most experience in doing so. Said three bedrooms are of three difficulties: easy, medium, hard.
Arriving at the building site of a space right of Cat And Mice and behind Doggy Hockey, Stampy declares that he and L for Leeeeee x should begin building. The bedroom to begin with will be easy, intending to complete it in the same episode. To begin the first corner, he positions a light blue block two blocks in and drags it back by 19 blocks total. Corey proceeds to survey the building process as he prepares the rectangle to be seven blocks along total, creating a 19x7 rectangle. Stampy comments that the bedroom is designed as a corridor rather than a bedroom, clarifying the room is long in the manner that it is to fit in a plausible amount of challenge into the mini-game.
Having built the outline, Stampy begins to destroy the ground in order to replace it with oak wooden planks due to them matching the texture of pressure plates, allowing them to be masked and blend into the floor under the impression of 'loose floorboards', something he adds onto by remarking that pressure plates generally also sound like floorboards in general. While continuing to destroy ground, Stampy commends the operation of his shovel, questioning why he hadn't used it before due to its apparent efficiency. He begins to describe the mini-game mechanically, explaining that the redstone is going to douse the entire floor below so that the triggers above set it off regardless of particular locations. Flattening out the floor below, Stampy begins to spread out redstone, though not before commenting on L for Leeeeee x and him raising up the height of the building, informing him to reach a height of six blocks total in order to excuse players for jumping.
As he fills in the floor below with redstone, Stampy explains that he has decided to add a bed at the back of the building, stating that a player having awoken a child is signified by a pumpkin, of which serves as the face, that is revealed when redstone is triggered to pull down a 'pillow', allowing the child to see the player, thereby indicating to the player that the attempt is a fail. Stampy realises that he lacks just the right amount of redstone to fill in below and requests L for Leeeee x to give him extra, which he complies, doing so. Filling in the redstone enough to fill in the floor apart from the bed itself, Stampy proceeds to illuminate the general area in advance, only to decide to sleep instead. crafting a bed for himself and L for Leeeee x, accidentally crafting a chest along the way, deciding to use it as a filter. After positioning down the beds, the two of them sleep, allowing the day to roll over.
Filling in the floor of a stealth-based object collection mini-game[]
Continuing to build, Stampy crafts oak planks to fill in the floor above the redstone to the very end, intending to leave a gap for the bed at the end. He explains the reason for his mechanism regarding the reveal in that he is unable to reverse by pushing the pumpkin because pushing a pumpkin with a piston only destroys it, giving the impression of his head falling off out of fear instead, something of which works against the main image of player loss, deciding instead to simply build the pumpkin to match the wall. Further limitations being that the pumpkin is the only block with facial features.
Filling in the floor completely, Stampy fills in the wall by setting up the pumpkin and then building forward by one completely, after which he then builds a bed. Designing said bed, he states that he has decided to make the bed appear as a Minecraft bed to make it a bed, designing it via a three-block row of white wool in front of the pumpkin, followed by a 3x3 square of red wool in front, demonstrating how the pistons pull up and down the block after. Stampy decides the bed doesn't appear like a bed as much as desired and crafts fences to make it appear as a four-poster bed, considering it in the first place to emphasise it as a bed, creating the framework in a simple cubic fashion flush with the rest of the bed. While he built the bed, L for Leeeee x had been crafting pressure plates, of which he promptly gives to Stampy. Before he decides to add them in, however, he decides to add the piston for the pillow. Promptly after opening up a hole for the piston to be positioned in, Stampy places it facing upwards and two blocks below the pumpkin so the bed retains its original shape.
To craft the redstone underneath, Stampy then opens up a space underneath of the bed model to allow himself to be able to construct the redstone mechanism. He lowers the redstone down and connects it to a repeater to boost the signal for it to be directed into a redstone torch, allowing the redstone to be led directly into the piston and for the piston to be default extended, meaning that a signal being emitted allows it to descend, something he tests and verifies. Having completed the mechanism for the bed, Stampy returns to the top and fixes the floor to prepare to spread pressure plates around. To demonstrate the redstone, Stampy places down the first pressure plate and uses it to successfully show that the piston extends and detracts on command as expected, and then spreads the pressure plates randomly around the floor. He also crafts a tripwire hook, positioning one set to include variety with a line of string, though the tripwire hook requires redstone connecting to the rest of the redstone underneath to work as intended. Stampy advises how to bypass the tripwire hook in that they require navigating through the tripwire hook itself due to being unable to jump over the string without triggering the tripwire.
After illuminating the area upon there being a roof added in, as well as adding extra material in front of the entrance, Stampy spreads out pressure plates in a relative amount and determines that there is enough to be considered easy but not medium. Having completed the pressure plates, Stampy challenges L for Leeeee x on completing the round in the least number of attempts, and L for Leeeee x decides to make the first attempt of the first round, reminding him to refrain from causing the pillow to detract, and he eventually manages to complete the round on the first attempt, to Stampy's surprise. Now in a bind, Stampy is required to complete the round in one attempt as well, deciding to copy L for Leeeeee x's route, though unlike him, he decides to target the corner of the bed rather then the middle, allowing him to reach it easier, to his celebration. Due to them both winning, he clarifies that the first stage is the easy stage and that there will be two extra stages built in the next episode, declaring the mini-game as "Take The Teeth", after which he ends the episode with the line "But that's the end of this episode now. As always, there is gonna be a link in the description to the next part once it's online. I wanna thank you all very much for watching, and I will see you all later. Byeeeeeeeee!"
