"And pigs, do not like soulsand, they don't like soulsand, almost as much as they don't like water, they... hop up and down really slowly, and basically just sort of stumble their way across the soulsand, so, it slows you down a lot." |
— Stampy in regards to using soulsand as an obstacle for his pig-racing mini-game. |
"Obstacles" is the 190th episode of Stampy's Lovely World. In this episode, Stampy and his helpers finish building the pig-racing mini-game.
Plot[]
The first round of the egg-projectile painting-target mini-game & the simultaneous lag[]
Stampy opens the episode, taking a creeper out distantly from him via his balcony, successfully killing it in two shots via his bow and arrow. Doing so, he then introduces L for Leeeee x as he partially exits from the painting, as well as Amy Lee33 as he opens the left door of his bedroom, who gives him roses, and finally, Ank55, who he remarks to still look appealing since last using the Beautifier. Stampy greets his helpers and wonders how they are doing, confirming such by staring at him blankly at his request, which all three of them do immediately before acting spotaneous once more. Moving on, Stampy then calls for his cake, eating it and allowign L for Leeeee x to share another.
Stampy then announces a new balcony mini-game he has, setting up paintings on wool around his balcony, with the main goal being to knock the paintings off with eggs, with said paintings being in various locations. Most of the locations are easy to target, such as the one directly in front of him, while some are almost impossible, such as the one high on top of the hill in front of him. About to ask his helpers on if they want to make their first attempt, all of them immediately lag out upon him asking them, deciding to invite his helpers again to throw eggs for the mini-game. Everyone having returned again, Stampy offers L for Leeeee x as the first one to throw, who decides on a red painting attached near the front of the theatre. Though he attempts the throw, L for Leeeee x's egg falls short, to Stampy's disappointment, and he offers Ank55 to make the second attempt, giving him and Amy Lee33 an egg. With Ank55's attempt, he throws the egg at a lime green painting distantly atop the hill, missing by an inch, which is then proceeded by Amy Lee33 targeting a painting on yellow wool by the F1 car model, which she also fails at. He notices immediately that none of his helpers have managed to hit their intended targets yet, deciding to target the painting on white wool directly in front of the balcony, which he successfully manages to accomplish.
Moving on, Stampy then visits the Love Garden, informing his viewers that he adds someone's name to a sign for a reason at the beginning of all of his episodes, giving a shoutout to "Lephala Cat", having issues pronouncing the username, for drawing fan art of various moments within the series so far on her tablet only, something he himself has issues with, considering the pictures to be beautiful. After the Love Garden, Stampy calls his helpers to attention by saying that they have work to do, firstly heading to Stampy's Funland to build a pig-racing mini-game, having made progress on it before hand in the previous episode. Journeying down to the Tree Train, he states that he is needing to finish it due to only being an outline, filling in the floor and adding the walls up to prevent the pigs from jumping over. While his helpers commit to the aforementioned, Stampy will instead build the obstacles.
Adding a starting mechanism to & the first obstacle of the pig-racing mini-game[]
Arriving at the station for Stampy's Funland, Stampy climbs to the top as he is reminded that his viewers will call him out for failing to visit the doghouse for a dog, correcting them in that he is taking Gregory Jr. who lives in the crazy golf course, and upon entry, Stampy decides to play on the hole that Gregory is sitting in, which is "Doghouse", explaining the basic rule of the hole in that he has to get through the doghouse and over his head to drop it into the hole at the end. Making the first throw, Stampy manages to successfully drop the ball inside of the hole, and then stands up Gregory Jr. as he warns him to stay clear of the "Nether" hole in the distance, due to Sherbet deciding to burn himself in the previous episode.
On his way over to the mini-game, Stampy greets L for Leeeee x from behind as he runs along with him, and shows the general location in that he is building it by the circus, explaining it to be a simple race track where players hold a carrot on a stick while riding on a pig with a saddle to guide the pig around, which he remarks to be difficult but possible, deciding to host a test race by the end of the episode. Arriving at the mini-game, he shows the very outside walls of the mini-game to have been built up to reach two blocks of height to block out the pigs inside. Accoutning for the pigs present, Stampy decides to begin the starting mechanism for the mini-game.
Digging out in line with the doors in front with an extra line extended backwards, Stampy explains the general design in that he is using a checkered flag pattern with black and white colour scheme. Starting to bulld the starting and finishing line, Stampy states that he will also add fences on pistons to allow a lever to drop them down and set off the race, of which he starts to add by digging out an extra hole in front of the starting line. During the process of the redstone, Stampy intends for his helpers to replace the floor of his mini-game with pink wool, which if proceeded by Ank55 committing to just the action with notable dedication, to his admiration, urging him to continue digging away at the floor. Starting with the mechanism, Stampy lays down pistons a level below the main floor facing upwards, adding nether brick fences on top due to thinking they look better as he is also greeted by Amy Lee33. Creating the redstone mechanism for the starting sequence itself, Stampy crafts a lever and a set of redstone repeaters, and then starts to add the redstone repeaters on the block below the pistons, testing with a redstone torch to verify the direction works as planned. Continuing to build the starting mechanism, Stampy links redstone up to redstone repeaters directing into the pistons, testing if the sequence triggers all pistons to extend, of which it successfully does. With the redstone mechanism, completed, Stampy then trails redstone upwards to a block directly next to the system to be triggered by a lever, the system successfully functioning as he tests the mechanism with a lever, to his surprise. Adding another detail, Stampy also delays each redstone repeater to allow all players to be in the same direction for the convenience of the race.
Realising the area has turned to night, Stampy decides to spread torches around to defend against hostile mobs, and assists in adding the pink wool leading forward from the starting line due to having finished it, admiring the progress made by his helpers when leading the floor into the finishing line, hoping to complete the mini-game enough in order to test it. Reaching the first corner, Stampy decides to start the next obstacle, which will be a pit of water of sorts. Marking out the design, Stampy explains the concept of the water in that it pushes the correct direction at the expense of speed due to pigs being unable to act with speed in water. Filling in each end of the section from the parallel inside, Stampy then replaces the floor created with black wool to add water on one side of the pit only. In regard to the obstacle itself, Stampy considers it to be the easiest, and that the obstacles proceeding will be more complicated. Filling in the floor with black wool, Stampy gathers extra black wool to fill the rest of the floor in after running out of supplies, being attacked by a spider on his way to doing so. Filling in the floor and walls of the pit to replace the remainder of it with black wool, Stampy then crafts two buckets and gathers water from the nearby lake, though he is interrupted by a spider trying to kill him, sending Gregory Jr. to attack it only for Amy Lee33 to make a surprise appearance and attack it, after which he goes to gather water from the lake nearby, creating an infinite water source and filling in the water pit to allow water to travel across to the opposite end. Though he finds out the water is unable to reach the opposite end, Stampy decides to edge the entire flow in by one to allow the water to travel to the opposite end as intended.
The second & third obstacle of the pig-racing mini-game[]
Finishing the first obstacle, Stampy gathers extra water in advance, deeming the first obstacle complete and moving onto the second obstacle, which will slow down the player significantly through soulsand, which is led to via traveling over the bridge of the course, and then underneath of it to find an option of left and right. Using the open space already present, Stampuy plans out the overall size and starts to fill in the soulsand on the track, stating that pigs dislike soulsand and stumble across it, slowing the rider significantly. Filling in the soulsand after sitting down Gregory Jr. due to his capacity for interference, Stampy then travels to the next obstacle just across, which will use pistons and pressure plates.
Stampy starts to dig out the necessary space for the obstacle for the first set of pistons, the pressure plates being laid out so that pistons are triggered behind a player to slow opponents behind, setting down pistons a block below the main floor to then gather nether brick fences. He realises a more effective method of building in the form of adding the pressure plates directly next to he pistons, testing such with stone pressure plates, only to find that redstone is required underneath the pressure plates. However, Stampy decides instead to copy the redstone repeater method at the starting line. Judging the full layer of the redstone underneath, Stampy then crafts extra redstone repeaters to repeat the system created by the starting line, though not before being greeted by another spider that is then killed by Ank55. Crafting the redstone repeaters, Stampy then adds them leading into each the pistons below, intending for the pistons to be triggered no matter the pressure plate used by leading redstone into the repeaters directly from below the location of the pressure plates.
Completing the first section, Stampy details the pressure plates intended to be with black wool, stating that he intends to repeat the pistons used a distance apart from the first, stating that he will only be able to copy it on the opposite side before running out of time as he wishes for a test race. Preparing for the second set of fences, Stampy requests his helpers to gather pigs from the area, noting the one already-present in the circus, intending for pigs to be distributed one each among the players. However, Stampy instead decides to offer up a relay race where two players switch between one pig. After completing the pressure plates, Stampy realises that the redstone he has created underneath is too low for the pressure plates above to contact with it, raising the redstone above by one, along with the redstone repeaters. In order to actually start the race while fixing this, Stampy also instructs his helpers to find a pig as well as a carrot on a stick, telling them to be ready.
The first test race of the pig-racing mini-game[]
With the first fence obstacle completed as intended, Stampy fills in the remaining floor to complete the first half, and then drags Gregory Jr. away from the track of the mini-game to prevent him from interfering. On his way, Stampy encounters Amy Lee33 having found a pig, instructing her to guide it to the starting line by reversing the track's intended direction, only to find the water preventing such from being successful. Eventually finding the second pig, Stampy is surprised by the speed as he also opens up the starting line to reach the opposite side where the entrance is, instructing his helpers to meet at the starting line as well as Gregory Jr. to sit down distantly from the mini-game as it is. For the relay race, Stampy decides on a race with himself and L for Leeeee x against Ank55 and Amy Lee33, with L for Leeeee x starting the test race against Amy Lee33. Setting the fence to start up, Stampy then gives a countdown and starts off the first test race
Following behind of his helpers, Stampy sees the pigs gradually making it through the course with Amy Lee33 in the lead, L for Leeeee x being delayed significantly by the water, reminding him of their status as the "Prized Porkers" as motivation due his significant delay. Eventually, L for Leeeee x manages to reach past the first obstacle with Amy Lee33 traveling further forward, using the left route and traveling the longer way through, with L for Leeeee x using the soulsand route. With Amy Lee33 reaching the finish line, Stampy notices her needing to switch, telling her to exchange the pig with Ank55, dasing over to the starting line to switch with L for Leeeee x. Switching with L for Leeeee x, Stampy finds that he may be able to catch up with Ank55, passing through the first obstacle and over and through the bridge, eventually reaching the finish line with the knowledge that Ank55 had won a long time ago.
Finishing the relay race, Stampy decides the race to have been close in spite of the distance between the two positions beforehand, commending Ank55 and Amy Lee33 for their win. In regards to the next episode, Stampy decides to finish the track and then host an official tournament afterwards, which he is eager to commit to, ending the episode with the line "But sadly, uh, that is the end of this video here, so I wanted to thank you all very much for watching, and I will see you all later. Byeeeee!"
