"Yep, there we go! Why did that happen!? I was in a completely well-lit area, and... like, th-there was no reason for me to die there..."
— Stampy after he is killed by a zombie when trying to sleep.

"Inconvenient Death" is the eight episode of Stampy's Lovely World. In this episode, Stampy shows off his finished storage area in that he added a roof, though rather improvised, and continues building his crafting room.

Plot[]

House progress & building tricks[]

Stampy opens the episode at night in the interior of his house's entrance with the torches still lined up all around the second row, and the only remaining floor material is his crafting table and furnace, and he recommends his audience to view the previous episode for context as to the structure of his house and will leave it as a link in the description. Stampy explains the complete absence of his chests in that the stocks have now been transferred over to his storage area, and upon walking to it, it is also shown that two beds he and Crimson attempted to sleep in are still within the entrance bridge, and he calls it a "makeshift bedroom" as he pities that he does not yet have a proper bedroom, but when he does, it will be in a better location than the entrance. Stampy enters his storage area to show that the chests have been assigned with all of their decided materials and he doesn't have to add anything further. Stampy shows that with the entire storage area labeled, the "Stampy's Talent" and "Ponies" sign still remain, and proceeds to show his redstone chest, along with a chest to store stone and snow in the same. Reading the sign, he finds that it reads "Stone Snow" and comments that the idea would be dangerous. Stampy shows that the floor chests contain cobblestone in the ones facing towards the entrance and dirt in the ones facing away from the entrance. He also shows a food chest directly by the dirt chests that shows he has nothing, and he makes a sarcastic remark about how his avatar is going to starve, and a chest for plants containing spruce and oak saplings, sugar cane, wheat seeds and a rose as he remarks that he can "nibble on" them with a chest for a weapons and tools adjacent right of the plants chest, as well as a wood. Stampy realizes he does not need to scroll through all of his inventory and knows his audience understands the basic concept for storage. Stampy gives his viewers a recommendation for building material storage in that it's better to contain chests in a room like he has instead of using random chests to dispose of everything. A mining expiditionn is used by him as an example as he explains that mining and gathering materials only to place them in random chests, while also casually boasting about 14 diamonds he has in his diamonds chest, seems laborious, and that labeling chests makes the operation easier, using his chest with "Flint / Coal / Torches / TNT" as an example that labeling the chests helps search for stored materials easily, and he will eventually make it instinctive as to the locations of which materials in which "crate". He also recommends his viewers use a chest floor like he has, or a chest ceiling, to store dirt and cobblestone, as it is efficient and decorative both, and continues that the materials in the game can be used against their intended purpose, using furnaces as an example for improving something's appearance.

Stampy decides to leave his storage area and goes to the wall facing the player when leaving the storage area to find torches randomly placed, and is irritated by the lack of order in the pattern. After rearranging them in an upwards arrow shape, Stampy explains the reason for the excess of torches around his house in that it's due to being a counter against the enemies constantly spawning in, only to find that it didn't work. Stampy then goes into his storage area again and climbs up the ladder to reach the roof, and finds a sunrise on top, which he admires, as he also begins to show off the finished roof design for his storage area. Stampy walks on top of his entrance bridge to get a clear view of the sun rising from the horizon as he jokingly comments about how the Sun is square and therefore should not be "beautiful" to him. Stampy then changes his mind about spectating the sunrise and decides to give up and show off a new pond on top of his storage area with a wooden structure encasing it, and he explains that the reason for it being made primarily out of wood is due to it thematically connecting his entrance building. Stampy revises his words from the previous episode in that having the roof made out of wood makes the roof appear as thought it continues from his entrance building. Stampy shows the miniature bridge that scales across at the end of the current of the miniature river atop his storage area's roof, and describes that it's as thin as it is due to being made out of slabs, which are notably in a lower slab, full block, raised lower slab form that is then mirrored on the other side, reminding his viewers that the player is able to make wooden slabs, as well as sandstone and stone slabs, though he has a voice mishap upon attempting to explain the 'stone' category and immediately notes that he made an embarrassing prononunciation mistake in trying to differentiate between "sandstone" and "stone". Stampy continues explaining the bridge in which it leads to a waterfall which has a current that presently leads to nothing in particular and instead falls down into the lake in between the wing of the house he is currently constructing, as well as his plans to plant trees atop the roof of the storage area, and likely some wheat, intending to plant it in the pockets within the roof corners with the intention of "giving life" to his rooftop, and intends to have a proper garden, though he is unable to fit it in due to the water feature in the middle of the roof, and instead decides to have a garden in a different location as he points to the area in front of the unfinished crafting room with the love heart that Crimson built. Alternatively, the top of the cliff opposite from the wing of the house he is currently standing on as long as he has enough room to build an actual garden.

Stampy starts to explain his current plans for the episode in that he will plant trees and other various foliage on the rooftop, and then coils upon seeing a creeper scanning the land below approaching him as he fearfully and partially amusingly points out that he will also avoid creepers in the process, as well as building the majority of his crafting room. Stampy explains the reason for not starting last episode in that he ran out of the necessary materials, and he and Crimson were forced into another mining expidition (presumably in his personal mine) to gather more. Stampy returns back to his storage area's interior by traveling down the waterfall flowing down from the rooftop and going into the doors that the waterfall flows down directly next to, and explains why the waterfall is in such an inexplicable position because it's blocking the doorway leading to the lake in the middle, and he explains his justifications in that there is going to be a bridge leading across to the opposite side with a majority of the house being built on said bridge. Continuing his explanation of the impracticality of the waterfall, Stampy explains that he will have a glass roof on the connecting bridge to emulate a river that a visitor can see the underneath of as they walk through the bridge from the storage area, and he is optimistic that his idea will look "pretty cool".

Now starting with decorating the roof, Stampy wonders if he is stocked up on dirt, and finds that he is and is able to plant the trees down. Stampy explains that he has decided to use "weird coloured trees" as they are not very common among the area he has built his house, and he attempts to support his claim by confirming that they are really not common, and jokingly comments that due to them being uncommon, he can't find any. He explains in detail which exactly he means, and he explains that he is referring to "the ones that are kinda grey with black dots" to make it stand out compared to the other materials in his area, and shows the very type of wood he means in his inventory in log form. Stampy places the dirt in his quick select and casually places each one into the pocket as well as planting down each sapling for the "weird tree", which is a birch tree, and he sarcastically comments that the video has become "Gardening with Stampylongnose" upon realizing how monotonous watching him is going to be. With him being fine with his decision on the trees, Stampy decides to search for bonemeal in order to force the trees to grow. Stampy is about to gather bones, only to ponder that the player doesn't require a furnace to convert the bones to bonemeal and only needs a crafting table as he returns back to his crafting table to confirm the recipe. Stampy jokes that by the time he has finally found out the method in which bonemeal is made, the trees will have grown, additionally saying that there will be treehouses, woodpeckers, and squirrles within them as he goes to check his furnace to see that some iron he smelted has converted into 40 ingots. Stampy tries to use the furnace to smelt bones to convert it into bonemeal, and realizes that a furnace isn't necessary for bones. Stampy ponders about making an additional stylistic adjustment to his rooftop, only to decide that any further construction is going to make the roof cramped, though he realizes it to be cramped enough due to the roof being so small. Stampy decides to take the crafting table from the rooftop with him, and then explains a coding issue within the game based on wooden slabs, though he has forgotten the name of them. As it rains, Stampy demonstrates that the wooden slab he is trying to use has the grey of the stone emitting from it as is trying to break it, advising his viewers to instead use a pickaxe to quickly destroy and gather it. Trying to return it to its original position, Stampy accidentally places down a full wooden plank block and replaces it with the original slab that was there. Stampy revises his advice in that the player can quickly break the slab by using a pickaxe as he then goes over to the roof of his entrance bridge, explaining that he now has fencing lined parralel in the predetermined conclusion that a player will immediately jump onto the entrance bridge's roof upon reaching the storage area's roof and has a fence barrier as a safety precaution as he jumps on top of the structure on top of his entrance, showing that the roof leads over to the front door of his house.

With the front of the entrance now in consideration, Stampy jumps down onto the tree of Gregory's grave which has now grown to get to the main floor again, leaving him with two health points, showing off the tree to represent Gregory, saying that it reminds him of Gregory only to be jokingly distracted by a nearby chicken. Knowing his viewers will perceive his sudden change of emotion, Stampy clarifies that he actually does miss Gregory and is aware that his feature video is the only period of time he spent with Gregory, and ended up only spending the duration of the video with him due to taming him just before. He finds his personal sorrow to be ridiculous as he expresses his awareness that Gregory is just a dog in a video game while simultaneously justifying that he does in fact miss Gregory and wishes to find a replacement dog for him as he visits the start of his crafting room that he built in the previous episode to plan it out.

Actually starting the crafting room[]

Stampy starts to plan out the layout of his crafting room, and begins with the explanation that he doesn't simply want to place an opaque material like cobblestone up against the glass of the storage area before noticing a creeper bobbing up and down trying to reach him directly next to his crafting room as it's planted directly between a trench in the land that was destroyed, and he wonders his chances for a creeper somehow being in the most inconvenient position for him. Stampy returns back into his storage area to protect himself from the creeper as he plans out his crafting room and decides he will craft multiple furnaces with the cobblestone he has, and decides to place a crafting table in his storage area for the sake of convenience, only to realize he is already in possession of one. WIth the crafting table, Stampy crafts seven furnaces in total for his crafting room, and tries to open his cobblestone chests so he can access said cobblestone, only for a misclick to cause him to place his crafting table and then drop a remaining crafting table, then finally reaching the chest he intended. Stampy gathers a stack of cobblestone and returns to the crafting room, and decides to kill the creeper in whatever way possible. Stampy lures the creeper away from the side of the crafting room and snarkily remarks that creepers always destroy detailed buildings that players have spent hours on. The creeper ends up continuously trying to reach him while being blocked by a two-high tower of dirt, preventing Stampy from being directly chased after. While trying to kill the creeper with his sword as he constantly falls back to prevent explosion, Stampy complains that creepers destroying land is still as inconvenient as an actually-intended building as he has to take his time to replace the land that the creeper destroyed. Failing to kill the creeper due to the awkward angle, it ends up exploding and destroying land, and Stampy angrily points out the benefit in that the creeper is dead now regardless.

Stampy gathers the seven furnaces into his quick select and decides on a pattern, starting with the wall facing the opposite cliff. He explains his pattern going right-to-left on the wall as "furnace-wooden block-window-window-wooden block-furnace", and starts with another pattern of "furnace-furnace-wooden block", only to decide to just wing the process instead. Stampy gathers some oak wood logs from his storage area and returns back to his crafting room as he elucidates about how he made the waterfall, describing that the player makes a bucket with three pieces of iron and places water or lava on a block to allow it to flow down. Stampy starts with the pattern on the crafting room for real going left to right on the decided wall, starting with a wooden block, only to find that he hasn't obtained the glass necessary for the windows and returns to his storage area to gather it, and exclaims about his disorder in that he is usually prepared for whenever he builds in a video, which he apologizes for, and he goes to the corner chest to gather 46 blocks of glass. Stampy continues the pattern with two pieces of glass and a furnace, then placing a second one, also describing that his crafting room will have crafting tables scattered around the floor, and then continues the pattern with a wooden block and two pieces of glass, the ending it off with a wooden block. Stampy hopes the number of furnaces for the crafting room is enough, explaining that it's better to be abundant with the count of furnaces one has as a player, as an action such as smelting glass will only take forever if the player uses only one to smelt it altogether. Stampy continues the pattern by going to the front wall facing the garden, continuing right-to-left, by adding a log-furnace-furnace pattern.. Stampy clarifies that he is using the wooden logs as opposed to the planks, and he was inspired by the "training level" (tutorial) of the game, and that he wanted to play the first night in the game blind as he then blocks the exit to the crafting room off to continue with his wall pattern, the reason for him wanting to do it blind making the video more humorous for his viewers. He realizes that he instead made himself look like an idiot, and continues the pattern with two logs apart from one another for the second doorway, and he decided to take the tutorial just for fun, taking inspiration for his crafting room from the village within the tutorial, finding the details within the environment used by the game studio to be clever, as he returns to his storage room to craft a door, such as using stairs to create a slope in the roof, all of the concepts being used inspiring ideas for how to create an aesthetic within his crafting room.

With the door now in hand, Stampy contextualizes why he placed a gap between the two logs in the first place in that a back door is necessary for a house, intending for it to lead to the Love Garden, and he would prefer that there is an entrance in all locations possible for his house. Stampy revises his pattern again on the side wall and finds that he has a furnace where a log intends to be, and goes to replace it. He also revises the front wall pattern by removing the second furnace and shifting along the log-glass-glass-log sequence along to gather it together, and he also explains his plans to visit the Nether, knowing that it contains enemies and valuables, only for him to be interrupted by a skeleton suddenly shooting him from behind, bringing his health points down to two. Stampy questions if the game has actually turned to night, saying that the rain has ambiguated the status of time, and hides from the skeleton in the storage area as he ridicules the skeleton attempting to reach him from outside, while there is a spider hissing from the left of Stampy's ear, and Stampy expresses the hilarity of the creatures pressing their face up against a door, the hilarity being especially predominant when creepers do it, giving an example in how the creeper shows desperation to come into Stampy's unfinished house, mimicking the creeper saying "Um... Y-Y-You gonna open up...!? Y-Y-Y-You gonna let me in...!?", and assertively telling the creepers that he won't, pointing out jokingly that he hasn't a doorbell for his house because he doesn't want to be disturbed. Inspired by his comical imaginated situation where the enemies can speak, Stampy discovers that he can simply place a sign telling everyone not to disturb him outside of his entrance.

Stampy moves on from the crafting room construction and onto the process of sleeping to turn over to the day, expressing his awareness of the enemies potentially spawning in that he would plan to sleep if he wasn't inevitably going to be woken up by something weilding a crossbow or something undead. Upon his attempt to sleep, his prediction is confirmed in that a zombie spawned while he was sleeping, and with him only having one health point left, the zombie ended up killing him, dropping his loot all over the floor in a bunch, an event which Stampy is not surprised by at all. Stampy complains about the circumstances of the code issue in that the area had a high light level and he shouldn't have died as he gathers his belongings, using his stone pickaxe to kill the zombie by excessively hitting it. Stampy collects all of his inventory materials and complains about how the layout within a player's inventory becomes disorderly as a result of having to randomly return it to oneself. Stampy visits his storage area again to return a sapling, a sandstone block, and a ladder to their respective categories, though relucantly, assuming that he died with less materials, and with the ladder's location being adjacent from the crafting room, he ends up seeing the skeleton still outside, monitoring the area. Stampy points out another grievance about rain besides the ambiguity between day and night in that it also prevents hostile mobs from being set on fire. Stampy takes out the skeleton with an iron sword, and a spider than sneaks up behind him and attacks him too, and urges extra enemies to attack after seeing the sheer excess currently coming for him. Stampy realizes the idiocy of deciding to stay out in the open, and then finalizes the design up to the pattern he has currently placed by adding some torches, beliving that his crafting room will be appealing upon its completion, as well as commenting the contrast between the storage area in how his storage area is bright while his crafting room is bleak, stating that it summarises the general theme of the crafting room due to being a room for crafting and benchwork, also expressing a plan to use a double door for his entrance.

Stampy sees that the rain is continuing and that it's nighttime, combing together as hostile mobs being able to spawn while not burning, Stampy decides to end the episode. Stampy explains his plans for the next episode where he will add the final adjustments to the crafting room, building most of it off-camera, and planning to build the bridge leading from the storage area across to the main area of his house. He also expresses that he wishes to search for a new dog to take with him, and considers Gregory's existence, saying that he would not be able to differentiate between him and another and will search for a dog to have with him as a companion, saying it's better to have one than to not. He explains his psyche within the video where he had Gregory, expressing that he had a better time with Gregory than building the start of his storage area as he laughs at the absurdity of his thoughts. Stampy justifies his current ideals for a dog with his experience in Fable 2. With the new dog eventually in hand, Stampy will allow his viewers to name the dog on the episode where he has said dog and will decide based on total likes, or otherwise the first comment if none received any likes. Stampy realizes how much he has dragged on, reaching 25 minutes of runtime, and ends the episode with the storage area by thanking his viewers for watching the video and tolerating him for the duration, telling everyone that he will see them later.

Trivia[]

  • Though the title of "inconvenient" may imply Stampy didn't expect himself to die while sleeping, his remark just prior to sleeping in his bed indicates that he knew all along that something would kill him.
  • This is the first episode within the Stampy's Lovely World series in which Stampy dies from a hostile mob.
